How did you meet? At University
How long were you together before the wedding proposal? 5 Years
Tell us about the Proposal! He planned a surprise party at the Serena Hotel and invited our friends and relatives. The party was disguised as a friend’s farewell party and I was thus in the mix of bidding ‘bye’ to our friend who was apparently relocating to Canada. I offered to assist our friend cut her cake and shock on me, on opening the make box, voila, I saw a ring on it and the writing “Will you marry me” So, imagine the shock and all, as I tried to turn around to compose myself and know whaz up, Eric was right there on his knee and went ahead to ask for my hand in marriage before our relas and buddies. Of course I said YES!!!!
How far in advance did you choose to have your wedding after the proposal? And, why? 4 Months later. Trust me it would have been earlier if we didn’t need to do any planning.
How did you go about the wedding planning process? Did you do it yourself? How long was the planning process? How did you find it? We planned it for 4 months. Eric and I decided on what we wanted for our big day and selected our service providers of choice then invited our friends to assist us in the planning. We had a friends’ committee where duties were allocated to everyone and thank God they were all committed so everything was smooth.
Did you have a hen party / kitchen tea / stag night / bachelor / bachelorette party? If so, what did you do and what did you enjoy most about it? I had a surprise hen party organized by my friends. They invited a professional hen party coordinator cum sexologist and it was terrific!!!
Wedding Details (the whole story...from start to finish): Haiyaaaa, woke up with this nice feeling; I was in some state of oblivion but on the other hand excited that I’m finally getting to live with my prince. My girls and I were ready on record time-thank to my ‘tough’ best maid. But apparently all the groomsmen decided to come for me and got stuck in the jam like forever-Truly that was a down light for my day but I got through it. The ceremony was superb, beautiful setting and beautiful people and the reception was just the bomb! The dance, the speeches (not those boring ones trust me!) and of course…..the anticipation of the honeymoon to a secret destination!!
Tips and / or advice for future bridal couples? Know who and what you want for your big day don’t be extravagant in your spending. Keep it simple and elegant-it’s possible!!!
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day? Our pageboy dropped my ring and I had to wear my hubby’s ring which was too big and remove it in time to put it on him and at the same time blocking the camera' view!!! It was such an act!!!
Did you go on honeymoon? If so, where? And, why there? Definitely Yes. We went to Arusha to the Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge –The epitome of romance. The place is at the foot of Mt. Meru and so there are streams running allover the place and you know what water does to bodies to love birds!!!
We then went to Dar es Salaam en route to our hideaway “The Mnarani Beach Hotel “in Zanzibar. Reason for going there: More water and thus more….
